SEO Tips for an Ecommerce Website:-

For Good SEO Ecommerce website you should follow these four tips

  1. You should have a Good Architectural website, which will be easy to navigate; Good Onsite SEO should be done on it.
  2. You should have a Good Social Media Strategy.
  3. You should be Technically Good with the platform on which your website is running.
  4. You should plan your content strategy.

Technical and Social Aspects of Ecommerce SEO:

While developing the Ecommerce website, improve your site from technical point of view.  There are many SEO Aspects that you may miss in development phase.  Content duplication is one of the common issues in ecommerce websites.  Use some software that can help you to remove duplicate content and pages.  Submit a custom robots.txt file in Google that can tell the crawlers what has to be indexed.  Make your site accessible to Google Crawlers.  Have an easy navigation on the site Use rel=”nofollow” for the links not important.

Improve Page Load Time:

If your site pages take too much time to load, visitors may not find it relevant and leave the site which can increase the bounce rate.  Ecommerce site usually takes little more time than static websites because of so many modules loads individually.  You can use Google page speed analysis test which not only gives the page load time result but provide so many suggestions to improve if your sites takes time to load.

Make your site responsive in design.  It should serve all the devices.  It should be device independent website as internet are more surfed from mobile and tablet devices.

On-Page Optimization and Content:

In Ecommerce, website content is very limited usually it’s just static pages like about, contact, home, etc.  Most of the pages are related to category, product, check out etc.  It’s a good practice to install blog within the site and regularly post about your product, services, reviews etc.

Make use of other On-Page optimization techniques like 301 redirection, custom made 404 page.  So, when you add new place which is a replacement of old product page redirect the old URL to new URL with proper 301 directions.  Keep custom 404 page in root directory any like a broken link or a wrong url clicked 404 page can help the visitor to navigate.  Keep your site updated and provide better alternatives for the product out of stock or provide some message like when it would be available to buy.  Never keep a blank page or remove a page from site.  Spend your time crafting the title, meta description and Rich snippets as these are the content which are visible when your site will appear in search result.   A good title Meta will increase the CTR.
